“We’re excited to introduce Duo to our environment for its ease of use, compatibility, and flexibility. I’d definitely recommend Duo to suit your two-factor authentication needs.”
— Mark Schechter, Director of Infrastructure Engineering

Highlights

Jet.com sought out two-factor authentication as an added layer of security for their firewall and their password manager applications.

As a start-up, Jet.com needed something that was easy to deploy and manage.

Who is Jet.com and what do they do? Well, first Duo would like to invite you to check out this fantastically funny video starring Kumail Nanjiani (you might know him from HBO’s Silicon Valley), which explains how Jet.com works.

Jet.com is an online shopping platform or marketplace, which allows people to save money while shopping, but to also unlock other deals that are curated for them based on that purchase. Say you buy peanut butter on Jet.com, you might unlock a deal on jelly. You get the idea.

The Challenge

As a start-up, Jet.com needed something that was easy to deploy and manage. They sought out two-factor authentication as an added layer of security for their firewall and their password manager applications. “We were looking for an easy way to secure our software,” said Mark Schechter, Director of Infrastructure Engineering at Jet.com.

Duo offered them built-in compatibility for both of those use cases and they decided to try it out.

The Solution

After testing Duo Platform for a short time, Mark rolled it out to around 400 users via the self-enrollment method. “We deployed Duo on the fly, since we needed something that was quick and easy,” said Mark. “Self-enrollment worked well and required zero intervention from our IT team.”

The vast majority of Jet.com’s employees are using Duo Mobile’s Push authentication method. When we asked Mark about feedback from Jet.com’s employees about using Duo, he said he hasn’t received any feedback. “No negative feedback is good feedback when you’re talking about security,” he said.

“We’re excited to introduce Duo to our environment for its ease of use, compatibility, and flexibility,” said Mark Schechter, Director of Infrastructure Engineering at Jet.com. “I’d definitely recommend Duo to suit your two-factor authentication needs.”
