Duo for JIRA - FAQ

Last Updated: February 16th, 2024

Contents

Duo integrates with Atlassian JIRA to add two-factor authentication to your logins, complete with inline self-service enrollment and Duo Prompt. The code is open-source and available on GitHub.

Does Duo support two-factor authentication for Jira or Confluence?

Duo ended support for two-factor authentication for Jira and Confluence on-premises server products on February 14, 2024, to coincide with Atlassian's end-of-support date for these products.

Existing Duo configurations will still work for two-factor authentication, but we've blocked creation of new Duo applications for these products and Duo Support can no longer provide troubleshooting assistance.

Please see Duo Knowledge Base article 8193 for more details about the end of support for Duo authentication for Jira and Confluence.

Known issues with the JIRA application

Duo two-factor authentication works from the main JIRA logon page (login.jsp), but logon attempts from the Dashboard page (Dashboard.jspa) may fail with a message saying the username and password are incorrect. Continue to use the login.jsp page or try refreshing the Dashboard.jspa page after a failed login attempt.

Attempting to log on to JIRA using an iOS browser may also result in a username and password incorrect message. Again, try refreshing the page after a failed login.

Does Duo's JIRA application work with JIRA Service Desk?

No, Duo's JIRA application is only for the JIRA Software on-premises project tracking product.

Does Duo's JIRA application work with the cloud-hosted version of JIRA Software?

No, Duo's JIRA application is only for the JIRA Software on-premises project tracking product.
