Bluebeam Software + Duo
Bluebeam Software chose Duo because it’s easy to deploy, cost-effective and provides a holistic view of its network, users, and devices.
Duo Push and the cost of the solution relative to others are the two biggest reasons we chose Duo.”
Rethinking its security posture for long-term success
Bluebeam Software provides construction technology solutions to over 3 million users in more than 160 countries. Their mission is to empower those who build our world. Bluebeam had found themselves at a security crossroads. Their rapid growth as a budding startup was making the company rethink its security posture entirely, so finding the right solution for the road ahead was a must.
Specifically, Bluebeam required a solution that would be easy to deploy and manage, be cost-effective, and provide a holistic view of its network, users, and devices.
Challenges
While in a stage of rapid growth, Bluebeam discovered some pain points concerning security. Specifically, they were struggling to find a security solution that could meet its requirements. Those requirements included:
- Affordability
- Easy to deploy and maintain
- Scalability with company growth
- Reliable support when needed
- Functionality without sacrificing efficiency
Finding the right MFA solution
After an extensive search, Bluebeam found Duo to be not only cost-effective and easy to deploy but also found immediate benefits with its features, including:
- Duo Push, which protects users from MFA and identity-based attacks
- Adaptive policies that add an extra layer of security
- Easily integrating Duo with their existing tech stack
Security meets cost-effective convenience
When Bluebeam happened across Duo, its security leadership was instantly intrigued by its powerful set of features. Not only were Duo’s phishing-resistant MFA capabilities exactly what Bluebeam was seeking, but they also found value in its adaptive access policies.
On top of that, Duo offers features that help users accomplish more in a fraction of the time and resources required with competing solutions. This put Duo at the top of Bluebeam’s shopping list. “If we know when to knock a user off the network or force them to MFA, that’s a valuable solution for us,” said Savage. “And with Duo, I can do all this for [a fraction] of the price.”
Results
Improved productivity
After implementing Duo, Bluebeam employees aren’t getting locked out of their devices, allowing for uninterrupted productivity.
Easy integrations
Bluebeam is now able to consolidate security from several disparate apps and third-party tools by integrating Duo with their existing tech.
Enhanced network visibility
With Duo, Bluebeam can now flag suspicious logins and take the appropriate action.
Ongoing support
With quick responses to any question, Duo’s support team has proven to add even more value to the industry-leading solution.
Navigating the road ahead with Duo
Since implementing Duo, Bluebeam has found numerous benefits that have given its business a boost. With Duo Push, the company has seen a significant drop in users being locked out of their own devices. This has led to longer periods of productivity for its workforce and fewer worries about lost or stolen passwords.
Additionally, Duo’s adaptive policies have enabled Bluebeam to set permissions on their own terms. With complete control over who can access which sites and apps based on role, device, and location, Bluebeam has simplified its security posture at a reasonable price.
Finally, Bluebeam also migrated several cloud applications to Duo SSO (single sign-on) from Azure SSO and continues to review their remaining apps that were being protected by Azure SSO. The company was pleased with the resulting protections Duo offered; so much so that they’re now exclusively protecting all SaaS apps with Duo’s SSO functionality.
Going forward, Savage says the company is exploring how much farther they can go with Duo. “I see a lot of potential with Continuous Identity Intelligence,” Savage said. “It helps Duo become even better. When we see a suspicious login, Continuous Identity Intelligence helps us find [the source of it] even faster. We’re also slowly but surely adding elevated risk-based authentication. Eventually, I want everything in Duo.”
